After Tea from Belgrad made a beautiful, colorful and water resistent Amy Parka in April our Sewing Around The World Tour continues and we now proudly present the creation from Anna.

Anna – the name of her blog is “Along avec Anna” – comes from France, lived several years in Canada and moved some months ago to England. There she follows her passion and besides sewing, does all kinds of crafting – especially knitting!

We are happy that Anna confirmed to participate in our Sewing-project and she immediately opted for the Yogaset OM . Since Novita from Japan has sewn the Yogaset already last November, we proposed Anna to show her set in combination with “all-day-clothes”. She decided to make the shirt and the tanktop and took the photos with a pair of jeans. Fits perfectly, doesn’t it?

The fabrics – jerseys and sweat – she got from the French online shop Ma petite mercerie which has a huge range of fabrics – especially jerseys and sweats. They have not only every color, in stripes, dots etc, but also some interesting graphically patterned fabrics.

Anna who writes on her blog for about three years loves to show her garments in front of picturesques locations. This time – ohlàlà – purple and white flowers which go very well with her shirt. The pink shirt looks very well on her and so no wonder that she – as she wrote – often wears it!

Merci Anna for this lovely contribution and Merci Ma petite mercerie for the generous support!

And if you want to more about Anna, in our little interview we send to very blogger she talks about her passion – she sews since she is 8 – and about her favorite work, a dress…

Present yourself a little bit (name, age, children, name of the blog, age, city where you live, what you are doing when you are not sewing, …)

My name is Anna, I’m a 30 yo french girl who just settled down in England with my family after 4 years in Canada and I have a 16 months little girl called Alice. I started my blog ‘Le fil à coudre d’Anna’ 3 years ago when we were in Montreal and I still love to write it. When I’m not sewing, I’m …. knitting! And of course taking care of my little girl as well. I’m currently at home with her while I’m waiting for my degree equivalence to work as a speech and language pathologist in the UK. Even if I’m not working, my days are really busy and I don’t get much time to sew appart from the evenings!

When did you start to sew and why? How did you learn to sew?

I learnt how to sew when I was probably about 8 years old, thanks to my nan. She has an amazing sewing room with 4 sewing machines, and she taught me and my cousins how to sew quite young. I use to sew a lot until I was about 15 and then stopped as I didn’t have much time with school. I started again in Montreal in 2013, after founding a sewing blog online. I realized that the patterns were now very fashionable compare to before, and I bought a sewing machine that same week.

What are your favourite clothes? Do you have a fable for something?

Definitely dresses !! That’s basically what I sew most of the time. I use to sew and wear a lot of cotton dresses, but being at home for the past 16 months, I’ve been sewing and wearing a lot of knit dresses as they are very comfy. I’ll probably sew more fancy and vintage dresses when I’ll go back to work and have more occasions to wear them.

What is the sewing project you like the most?

Oh it’s a very difficult question! I love my first Cambie dress a lot (Sewaholic patterns) as it’s in a very nice chambray fabric made in France. But lately, the garment I’ve been wearing the most is definitely my Moneta dress made in a striped blue and gold knit fabric. I love the fit on me, and it’s a very easy day-to-day outfit to wear.

Do you only sew for you or also for other people (husband, children, …)?

I used to sew mostly for myself, and sometimes for my nieces if I could, but now I’m trying to sew for my daughter as well. Especially as she’s growing up, she can wear the clothes I make for a longer time, so it’s definitely more worth it than before!

From where do you get your ideas? Do you buy patterns or do you invent your own ones?

I get a lot of my ideas from Pinterest, and fashion blogs, or tv shows. Most of the time I use patterns that I buy, but it happened a lot of time that I was using them as a base, and changing details to make it fit my ideas. I’ve made a few tops and dresses from patterns that I designed, but it definitely takes longer now that I’m a mum!
