Plussize Sewing Patterns

At Schnittchen, we believe that clothing patterns and fabrics should adapt to the woman, not the other way around. That's why we design timeless plus-size patterns that allow you to create individual favourite pieces that fit perfectly.
When creating our plus-size patterns for coats, dresses, and tops, we focus on making sure that the clothes do not simply hide or conceal the body, but rather make you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin, no matter your size.

PLUS-SIZE STYLING TIPS - HOW TO SHOW OFF YOUR LOOK

We don't like strict rules or bans when it comes to fashion. Fashion should be fun and bring joy to your life! Of course, there are ways to achieve a certain look or style, such as wanting to appear taller, shorter, younger, or older. Plus-size women should be aware that their silhouette is more susceptible to compressing or shortening effects and that they can work against this by combining different pieces of clothing. We've put together some tips for our customers that will add that extra touch of style to your plus-size wardrobe.

IMPROVE THE FIT OF YOUR CLOTHES WITH SHAPING UNDERWEAR

Consider trying out so-called "shapewear." It may cost a little more than regular underwear, but many fuller-figured women find that it helps their clothes fit better and is more comfortable. Shapewear can also help to conceal panty lines under tight-fitting clothes like pencil skirts.

EMPHASIZE YOUR WAIST AND HIPS

Many women desire an "hourglass" silhouette. You can accentuate it with wide waist belts or high-waisted skirts that you tuck your shirt or blouse into. Culottes or high-waisted trousers can also be great options, as they accentuate the feminine shape of your hips and make your waist appear slimmer in comparison. These types of pants can also help to avoid the "muffin top" effect, where excess flesh protrudes over the waistband.

HIGHLIGHT YOUR DECOLLETAGE

You can draw attention to your bust with boat neck, waterfall, or V-necklines. Adding ruffles, fringes, or other trim can also create more volume and interest. If you prefer to minimize your bust, choose simple tops in neutral colours like white, grey, nude, black, or dark blue. Avoid embellishments like ruffles or embroidery near the chest area or wearing necklaces that draw attention to the bust.

LETTING YOUR LEGS APPEAR LONG

High-heeled shoes fit your figure well, especially the block and wedge variety (perfect: match the colour of the shoes to the colour of the pants!). Kitten heels or stilettos are not as recommended - they are so thin that your ankles and calves may appear wider than they are.

DIY – the true revolution!

The principle of sustainability is found in its purest form in self-making: you design, you create with your own hands, you choose the material. And in the end, you wear it on your body and define your appearance.

Schnittchen Sewing Patterns give you a hand with clear pattern and instructions.
